In keeping with the green idea, our newsletter this month has some great earth-friendly tips for you. It's our goal to provide useful information, and to be on call when you need help with all your projects.

Wishing you many daffodils,

Focusing Despite Spring Fever

The weather is getting nicer and going back to the office after lunch is getting more difficult.  While only a small percentage of us are able to "blow off" an afternoon and head to the beach or outdoor mall, the rest of us have to find the strength to pull it together and get back to work.  Here are a few tips that may help.

  • Clean your desk.
    • Get filing done and remove those stacks of paper that have piled up over the previous several months. If you tend to stack papers in an IN basket, get rid of the basket and vow to get papers filed or passed along each evening before you leave.
    • Use a rag to actually CLEAN your desk and phone.  You may be stunned to see just how dirty it can get behind your computer.
    • Re-configure your work area for optimum use of your space.  A fresh and clean area will help you to remain focused on the tasks at hand.
  • Allow yourself time to enjoy the weather by eating lunch outdoors or going for a short walk during a break.
  • Plan to meet co-workers or friends after work.  Many communities have concerts or movies in the parks during late spring and summer.

It's amazing, spring comes each year and spring fever still hits us all to some degree.  Take small steps to keep focused on your work and to also enjoy the improving weather and longer days.

Spin the Globe

Did you ever spin the globe, close your eyes and use your finger to imagine vacationing in the exotic destination your finger landed on?  Southeast Asia, Costa Rica and Moscow are all within your reach.  The world is more accessible today than ever. Why not plan to see it and travel somewhere interesting this summer?

  • Plan ahead!  Pick your location and call your concierge to get the trip booked.  Read up on your destination: pick up a guidebook and learn all about the area's notable landmarks and local customs.  Your concierge can identify the best restaurants and happenings such as local festivals and street fairs.
  • Rent a villa!  Yes, you can rent a vacation home in many destinations worldwide! Not just for the wealthy, villas are available at every level and price point.
  • Passport?  Check! Be sure that your passport is up to date and if not, get it renewed ASAP. Recent legislation requires a US Passport when returning from Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean.   Passports take approximately 10-12 weeks to process, although you can pay a fee to expedite this slightly.

This summer, take the vacation you always dreamed of.  Having trouble deciding where to go?  Why not spin the globe, close your eyes and see where your finger lands.

Next, use that same finger to call QCS and let us help you plan the summer vacation of a lifetime.

Tips from our Concierges

In honor of Earth Day, we would like to point out just a few ways to go green this month.

Shower Pause

Stop the shower when shaving. It sounds funny, but you can save hundreds of gallons of good clean water each year when you put this into practice.

Recycle your car's battery

AAA has a fantastic program called the AAA Great Battery Roundup.  If you bring your old battery to their designated collection sites April 9- 19 they will recycle it for FREE.  For the site near you call 800-903-2227 or go to www.batteryroundup.com

Recycle your old cell phones

Verizon Wireless stores will take your old phone to benefit domestic violence shelters. You can also visit www.rbrc.org

for other phone recycling locations

Ink Cartridges/ Rechargeable Batteries

You can recycle old ink cartridges and rechargeable batteries at any Best Buy store near you. Most office supply stores will also allow you trade in used ink cartridges for reams of free (recycled) paper.

Unsure where to recycle an item?

www.earth911.com is a great resource to find locations near you.
