5
Cinco de Mayo
El
cinco de mayo ("Fifth of May" in Spanish)
is a Mexican national holiday, commemorating
the victory of Mexican forces over the
French in the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
This day has come to equal Mexico's Independence
Day (September 16) in significance. Planning
a fiesta this month? Let QCS make sure
it's a smashing success.
13
Mother's Day
Mother's
Day began in England in
the 1600s, as "Mothering Sunday," when
moms were honored with cake and a day
off. In 1914 it was made a U.S. holiday
by President Wilson. Let your mom know
how much she means to you this year.
QCS can be sure she has the perfect
gift waiting for her on her special
day.
Memorial
Day is meant to honor those who gave their
lives in service to our country. Keep
in mind that it's more than a 3-day weekend,
it's a chance to remember and give thanks
to our fallen servicepeople. Why not attend
a parade this year? QCS can help you find
a weekend getaway that will include plenty
of patriotic opportunities.
May
is Teacher Appreciation Month. Need
ideas for something special for a fabulous
teacher? Call us, we've got great ways
to say thanks!
Have
other dates this month that are important
to you: birthdays, anniversaries, etc.?
Visit our Forget Me Not
page on our website to learn how QCS can
make sure no important date ever goes
forgotten again.

| Spring
Cleaning with Feng Shui |
|
Do
you feel trapped in your own home?
Are you unable to be creative in your work
space? How are you sleeping at night?
Try adding a little feng shui (wind water)
into your home this Spring and see if your
outlook changes.
Front
Door:
- A black
or blue doormat will encourage good things
to flow in like water
- A water
feature or wind chimes create a soothing
environment
Bedroom:
- Remove
or cover large mirrors if you find sleeping
difficult.
- Introduce
romance colors: white, pink and red into
your room. (Avoid too much red as it can
trigger anger.)
- Bed placement
is important. Your bed should have
the widest view of the room and should
avoid being in line with the door.
- Paint
this room a color that is pleasant and
inviting.
- Overhead
beams shouldn't be over your head as this
may block the flow of energy.
Living
Areas:
- Plants
that are healthy and living promote positive
energy. Dried flowers have no energy left.
- Maximize
the space by minimizing your furniture.
Too much furniture can close up a great
room.
- Avoid
completely bare walls--hang artwork to
reflect your personal style and to warm
up your home.
- De-clutter
your counter tops, desk tops and tables.
You will find that your thinking will
be clearer and your guests will be more
relaxed.
Quicksilver
Concierge can assist you in making your
environment a harmonious one. Call us today

| Safe
and Fun Graduation |
|
Graduation
night is around the corner! Perhaps
you have a high school senior in your household,
in your extended family or in your neighborhood.
If you are worried about their safety the
night of graduation, you aren't alone.
Some
unfortunate statistics obtained from the
M.A.D.D. website:
- 2.6 million
teenagers don't know that you can die
from an alcohol overdose.
- During
a typical weekend, an average of one teenager
dies each hour in a car crash. Nearly
50% of these accidents are alcohol related.
- Based
upon the latest mortality data available,
motor vehicle crashes are the leading
cause of death for people from 15 to 20
years old.
What
can you do to help? Talk to your student
about their plans for graduation night.
- Does their
school have a "Grad Night" on campus?
If so, contact the school and find out
how you can assist. Become involved
by planning, fund raising, donating, or
even chaperoning.
- Plan a
party for your student at your home or
another location. Have your student
involved in the planning and shopping
for the event. Come up with a theme
and have a blast with it! Turn the
garage into a night club, with music,
a disco ball and a bar that makes virgin
drinks (be sure a responsible adult tends
to this.) Bring in ping-pong, a
pool table or even arcade games for a
truly fun night.
- Beach
Bonfire: Get a group of your student's
friends together and go camping at the
beach. Invite other parents
along to keep it a family event.
You can make s'mores and watch Jaws on
a big screen.
- Film Festival:
Have your student and their friends come
up with some ideas for some short skits
that you can film. Encourage costume
and scripts to be planned ahead of time.
Not only can they have a tremendous amount
of fun, but the movies can then be copied
to be given as keepsakes for each of the
attendees.
There
are many things that you can do to encourage
safety on this special evening!
Feel
free to contact us directly for more ideas
or assistance.

| You
Can Do THAT For Me?! |
|
|
|
As
we talk about the work we do, invariably
folks are stunned to find out about some
recent task we handled. So, each month we'll
tell you about something interesting we've
done. It might also spark an idea for how
we can help YOU!
A
few months ago we began working with a very
busy professional couple. They have a stunning
home that is about 6 years old, but, as
with many working families, they haven't
been able to find the time to have a variety
of household projects taken care of.
QCS
has sourced a wide variety of vendors and
contractors to take care of all their needs.
We've set the meetings, screened the candidates,
presented their proposals to the homeowners,
followed up with questions and reference
checks, and been on site to supervise the
work. Just some of the things we've handled:
- Repair
of the garage door opener
- Repair
and maintenance of elliptical trainer
- Researched,
located, and are supervising the perfect
company to install solar electricity
- Bids for
and remodeling of a 1-car garage into
an art studio
- Window
cleaning and maintenance
- Installation
of new lighting
- Dishwasher
repairs
- Computer
troubleshooting and new system purchase
- Installing
new french doors
- Converting
a fireplace from wood to gas
QCS
can be YOUR general contractor, too! Let
us take care of getting your home back to
the best it can be.
