Greetings!
It's hard to believe the holidays are upon us, but it sure is
exciting! Thanksgiving is my family's traditional big celebration,
and every year we head to Philadelphia to celebrate with my
now-90-year-old grandmother and other beloved family members. Sure,
traveling at this time of year is a hassle, but the joy of being
with loved ones makes it all worthwhile.
The holidays also bring lots of stress and headaches for many
people. So this month and next we will be focusing on giving you
ideas to lift the burden and make this time of year nothing but pure
fun.
With our newsletter, it is our goal to provide useful information
and tips to help you keep your life in balance, and to be on call
for you when you need help. We'd love to hear what you would like to
see in upcoming issues.
Turkey trotting for YOU,

7 Election Day
No matter what your politics or opinions, VOTE! Honor all
the people who fought and died so you would have the right to
make your voice heard.
10 U.S. Marine Corps Day
On this date in 1775 the Second Continental Congress voted
to raise 2 battalions of Continental Marines, thus marking the
birth of the Corps. Semper Fidelis!
11 Veterans' Day
Veteran's Day is a federal holiday to honor all men and
women, both living and deceased, who have served in the
nation's armed forces. In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson
proclaimed November 11th as Armistice Day to commemorate the
end of World War I, which took place at the 11th hour, of the
11th day, of the 11th month. Congress changed the name to
Veteran's Day in 1954. Raise the flag, pause to reflect, then
hug your favorite veteran today!
16 Great American Smokeout
Are you thinking about quitting smoking? Today's the day!
Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, it's an opportunity
to join millions of other smokers in saying "no thanks" to
cigarettes for 24 hours. Please, please, please stop smoking!
23 Thanksgiving Day
No way to give you the full story here: pilgrims, Indians,
harvests, celebrations, turkeys, maize...the list goes on.
Just eat until you're full, and take time to be thankful for
all the joy in your life. (Oh, and take it easy--the average
person eats over 4000 calories on Thanksgiving Day!!)
Have other dates this month that are important to you:
birthdays, anniversaries, etc.? Visit our Forget
Me Not page on our website to learn how QCS can make sure
no important date ever goes forgotten again.

| Start a New Family Tradition |
 |
Has your family Thanksgiving tradition become monotonous?
Change things up this year by starting a new tradition. Get
everyone involved and see just how much fun--and potentially
“guilt free”-- your Thanksgiving can be.
Guilt Free Stuffing? Take a long walk (or jog if you
can) on Thanksgiving morning. Find a new trail and get out and
enjoy the Fall! If it’s raining, bundle up and wear rain gear.
It will get your blood moving and the fresh air is good for
you.
Family Photo in the Park Do you usually take a photo
of your family around the table? Why not take a photo of your
Thanksgiving group in the park? The changing season provides a
beautiful backdrop and the rosy cheeks will make for a great
photo. In addition, you can frame copies for everyone as a
holiday gift. Two birds, one stone (pun intended.)
Turkey Bowl Why watch football when you can play it?
Even if you can’t run, a game of flag football may be just
what you need to get a little pep into your day. You can play
this game with as little as 4 players. Mom and Grandma can be
the cheerleaders if they don’t dare step on the field, but
don’t leave anyone out. This is a great way to do something as
a group and get some much needed air and exercise.
Volunteer Your Time at a Soup Kitchen or Food Bank
This may be one of the most selfless acts to do on a family
holiday, but may also be the most rewarding. Helping people in
your community is not only a very good thing to do, but is
needed. Check your local groups such as Second Harvest Food
Bank, Cityteam Ministries, or contact your local church or
synagogue for information.
All of us at Quicksilver Concierge wish you and your loved
ones a wonderful Thanksgiving.

| Keep Your Workers, and Keep 'Em Happy! |
 |
If you're a business owner, you know that keeping your
workers happy equals a productive workforce. Unhappy staff
leads to low yields and high turnover rates. As the
long-depressed job market begins to see light at the end of
the tunnel, studies show up to 75% of all workers are on the
lookout for new jobs. (source: Society of Human Resource
Management)
Offering workers little extras and perks can ensure loyalty
and keep your business well in the black. Concierge services
will keep your employees less stressed and more focused on
work. This holiday season, consider the wide variety of ways
QCS can help you help your employees:
- Instead of putting one poor Administrative Assistant in
charge of the annual holiday party, let QCS plan it
all for you. She gets to focus on her work, you get a
top-notch holiday bash!
- Does that Secret Santa program seem to eat up
countless hours of staff productivity? QCS can take over as
chief Elf and make it a fun--but not time-consuming--event
for everyone.
- Gift certificates for concierge services make the
perfect holiday "thank you" for your staff. Available in any
denomination, a gift of our services will make their
holidays more enjoyable than ever before.
- Offer a Concierge Day this holiday season! QCS
can be on-site all day, handling employees' to-do lists and
other last-minute holiday requests.
We know how to make your employees' lives less hectic,
which in turn makes them better workers. Contact QCS today for
a free consultation on other ways we can work together this
holiday season!

You Can Do THAT For Me?! |
|
|
|
As we talk about the work we do, invariably folks are
stunned to find out about some recent task we handled. So,
each month we'll tell you about something interesting we've
done. It might also spark an idea for how we can help YOU!
We recently helped a family move across town. Working with
the dates established by their Realtor, we packed all
unnecessary & personal items before the digital
photographs and first open house. We moved furniture in each
room to maximize space so the rooms would appear as large as
possible. We made almost-daily runs to the Goodwill donation
station, and then arranged for large donated items to be
picked up before moving day.
Upon the sale of the home, we boxed the contents of each
room, drawer and cabinet for safe and secure travel across
town. Bright and early on move- in day, we arrived with bagels
and coffee to direct the movers to place the boxes in the
correct rooms. Once the movers were done, our work began
again. We unpacked each room, starting with the kitchen and
baby’s room for the client’s maximum convenience. Each day, we
watched rooms come to life as belongings found their place in
the new home.
Our job was to take the pain and stress out of the move for
the client. They were comforted knowing a professional was on
the case. Mission accomplished!
